joe@dayton.UUCP (Joseph P. Larson) (09/27/88)
I was playing on my Amiga (ray tracing again) Sunday night when the phone rang. The conversation went something like this: "Mr. Larson?" queried the male voice from the telephone. "Yes...." I'm full of spontaneous conversation while editing ray trace .DAT files. "This is Rob Peck." That got my attention. "I want to apologize for the delay in getting your Programmers Guide to the Amiga to you." Rob went on to explain that the publisher had been closed for inventory but that the book would be in the mail "tomorrow" (meaning Monday). Well, I would have liked to chat for a few minutes, but Rob sounded like he had more phone calls to make. In any case, I sorta wanted the net to know that Rob's been going out of his way on this. Most people/companies would just have shipped the books, *maybe* including a note explaining the delay (which I hadn't noticed yet -- I just mailed my letter a few weeks ago and expected a delay anyways). So not only does Rob call to apologize for a problem, but he apologized for one that I hadn't noticed and have learned to expect when mail-ordering anything (especially books!). So Rob -- if you're out there. I appreciated your call. Call again some time and we can chat Amigas. -Joe -- UUCP: rutgers!dayton!joe (Feed my Dayton Hudson Department Store Company ATT : (612) 375-3537 picture Joe Larson/MIS 1060 (standard disclaimer...) collection) 700 on the Mall Mpls, Mn. 55402
