Help!!!! Does anyone know where I can get the switches from inside the a1000 keyboard? I called my dealer and he dealt with C= service, and they said that the best I can do is order a new $110 keyboard! Now I realize it's more expensive than PC type keyboards because of the low volume, but because of that, I think that key switches should be available. You shouldn't have to replace the whole keyboard! That's like "Uh Oh, got a flat tire on my car. Better replace the car." First I thought my switches were dirty. So, I pulled off the keycap, and sprayed some contact cleaner in it. No help. So, I pulled my keyboard apart, unsoldered and pulled the switch, dissassembled it, and siliconed it. Put it back together, and no help. It seemed that the switch worked fine without the keycap, but when the keycap was on, it got stuck down. Well, after close examination, it seems that the little white post that the keycap goes on has a crack in the side. When the keycap goes on, it spreads out and rubs against the internal part of the switch. So, am I out $110 for a new keyboard, or is there a source to get these 50 cent switches. (even if they are $2.00 I'd take 'em.) I need 4 of them (1 spare, 3 to fix.) BTW, I was amazed that I could get the little buttons that stick out of the drives (the eject button.) I think they were like 75 cents or so. If C= has those, I would have thought they would carry just the switches too. I went to the local computer store and asked the guy if he had an old keyboard that was broken. He brought out a keyboard he had destroyed and asked me to "test" the keys to see which ones I wanted. He unsoldered a few and gave them to me. --Mike

There are some keys left over, which the club sells for $3.00 each, postage paid. (These keys are from an A1000.) Please contact me through US mail if you are interested. This is a borrowed time on someone else's machine, the owner of which has specifically asked me to not to have large Email volunes.
