Well, seeing as this is my first posting to the Usenet community, I will try to make it something to be, if not proud, then at least not ashamed. I recently purchased a Mitac 2400 baud modem from a local computer store, Guenther Computer, to be exact. After being thrilled with how much faster it is that my old 1200 baud modem I decided to make sure that it would work with my BBS (the main reason I bought a 2400 baud modem to begin with. I found, much to my dismay, that it refuses to work. When I type tag-bbs at the CLI prompt, it loads up but when I had someone call it, nada. I tried everything I could possibly imagine and it still doesn't work. The best I can get is 300 baud. I have tried using the remote option in Diga! which works just fine, but when I try the BBS it doesn't work. Needless to say I am confused. The first ting I did was to take the modem back and make sure that it wasn't defective. Turns out it was, but that still didn't solve the problem. Basically, I have given up on TAG-BBS and have decided that the only alternative I have is to give in and buy BBS-PC, something I was hoping I would be able to put off for a while as I don't have the money (remember, I'm still a lowly student). Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else out there tried using TAG-BBS with a Mitac modem? Also, last year there was talk of writing a better PD BBS program. Did anything come of that. I have been considering attempting such a project but I would have to buy a compiler since my current C compiler is Lattice 1.??. Either way, I'm stuck. Any help, advice, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Right now I am using my old 1200 baud modem and it is a royal pain to have to switch the cables and phone lines back and forth (it's only a part time BBS). I'm sorry if I have rambled but I am desperately seeking some sort of solution to this problem. <<=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=>> | Jon Granrose odin@ucscb.UCSC.EDU | | OR | | Opinions?!?
