[comp.sys.amiga] An update, and a grumble.

>And speaking of ailing 2000's. What's the history on 2000's whose

Well, mine died in May.
>My B2000 (1M, 2 floppy, Pacific Periph.

>I've noticed a few net complaints/reports of A500's who've bitten the

>to determine if it's likely that the 2000's PS just gave up the ghost,

If yours is anything like mine, the power supply just decided it was time.

>I'd hate like hell to send it
>off to get a new PS, only to have it pop another one as soon as I put
>the HD back into it.
You could save yourself some shipping and just get a new power supply.
They are about $75.00. Of course, if you are still under warranty, then
you should probably send it back.

>Oh, and what's the chance that I simply blew a fuse? I checked the
>motherboard for any obvious fuses, and found none. And if it is a blown
>fuse, why?
Mine blew the fuse in the power supply, and when I replaced the fuse, it
blew again. I ended up getting a new power supply, which has been working
ever since. I have a 2090 board, Miniscribe 3650 5-1/4 half-hight hard drive,
two floppies, and most recently an 8-Up memory board.

>Why should such a hefty power supply choke on one little
>SCSI board, with a low power 3.5" HD?
It shouldn't.

That's exactly what it was. I took it to a local warranty repair place,
they took out the old supply, dropped in a new one, and got my machine back to
me in less than 2 weeks. Not too bad considering that Clemson SC is in
the middle of nowhere.

It's been running smoothly for a whole 2 days now.

Time for C= to find a new PS supplier, I suspect.
