Hi there. I want to get a new computer (I *like* my C=64 but it's a tad outdated) and I've more or less decided on getting an Amiga. I plan on using it primarily for sound- and visual-generating purposes (in the upper third of the "non-professional" range quality-wise) but since I don't have much more experience with Amigas other than buying the latest copy of COMPUTE's Amiga User's Guide and reading this newsgroup for the past few weeks, I have some questions. 1) What are the main differences between the 500 and the 2000? I know that there are expansion slots in the 2000 but surely there is something else that makes them cost four times as much as the 500.... 2) Is the 500 "good enough" for what I plan to do with it? Do genlocks (whatever they are) go on a 500? Can you get hard drives for a 500? Will I even NEED a hard drive? 3) I'd also like to get a 68020 (forgive me Intel) for it when/if they're available. Can you put one on a 500? Once again, will I even need it? 4) What all will I need besides a genlock? Digitizers? Samplers? Can I hook my Casio SK-1 to it? Or can I just use a Mister Microphone (hey good lookin', we'll be back to pick you up later!)? :-) 5) What on EARTH are "gurus" and "Fish disks"???? Much thanks, in advance... _____ D. J.
