When I advertised that surf was consistently guruing on my A1000, more than one person was generous enough to send me a clean copy. What I learned from this is that my original copy was good. I also found out that it doesn't always guru. It seems that if I run some stuff earlier, vt100, zoo, etc, *sometimes* surf comes up ok. Most of the time, and *all* of the time after a reboot, surf dies before it can pop up it's first screen. Guru 000lotsazeroes5.random value. I've tried setting the stack high, and tried deleting stuff to free up memory. I still get Ghandi. This leads me to suspect that either something weird is going on, or I have some bad ram. My suspicion runs to the latter. Perhaps memory fragmentation caused by running the earlier programs is allowing surf to load into an area without the bad ram. Do note, however, that nothing else I am using ever bombs. Zoo files crc OK after filling up vd0:, etc. OK. So given this, can someone send me a decent CHIP ram tester? If my ram: checks out OK, I have to suspect that it's perhaps the machine I'm using, or AmigaDos 1.2 is already obsolete, or surf is really hosed. Sean P.S. Nice program!!!!!! Wish I could run it more often. -- *** Sean Casey sean@ms.uky.edu, sean@ukma.bitnet *** The Hacker from Spaaaaaaaaace. {backbone|rutgers|uunet}!ukma!sean *** U of K, Lexington Kentucky, USA ..where Christian movies are censored. *** ``The World... she's a flat!
