I'm posting this for John Hoffman, since he doesn't have posting capabilities
to the net:
-------------------------
I'm getting some very strange stuff from my system ever since I started
using AmigaDOS 1.3. The symptoms are:
1. Whenever I start a communications program (Comm 1.34 or HandShake),
I get a task held, GURU #00000003.00299068 or something to that
effect. The last eight digits of the GURU # change depending on
what I have done.
2. After using slider (proportional) gadgets for a while (clicking
on an empty area to move the cursor) I get a GURU. When doing this
with Preferences, the GURU # is 0000000B.00200ED2. This also happens
with another program, ClickDos 2.05.
Thinking that it might be my hard disk, I tried an old boot disk that just
mounts VD0: and loads it up. When doing this with Kickstart 1.3 (the
workbench software was for 1.2), I get the same problems. When I did it
with Kickstart 1.2, Comm worked, and now I am here looking for help.
I thought that I might be some hardware problem, but since I got it to
work with the old software, now I think that it is a software problem.
I will be glad to send my startup sequences to anyone who thinks that they
can help me.
Also, has anyone else had any problems with the HPLaserJet printer driver.
I don't think that it works.
BTW, My system is an Amiga 1000, 2 meg. Starboard, 65 meg Cltd HD, grounded
pals, etc.
John
P.S. I have since discovered that if I use Kickstart 1.2, everything
works fine.
