[comp.sys.amiga] Performance of Bridgeboard

dave@dms3b1.UUCP (Dave Hanna) (10/19/88)

Okay, if CBM sells so many bridgeboards ( 1 for every 2 A2000's,
somebody said), can I hear from some of you users as to how well they
run? Specifically, I have to do some development of some projects that
will eventually run on a Clone, and I would really rather not have
another computer siting on my desk. Can you run pretty much all the
IBM/MicroSoft/etc. tools, and can you plug in 3rd party cards to the IBM
IBM slots (I need to use a telephone voice interface card) and have
everything play together okay? If I use PCDOS 3.2 or later, can I
access the 3.5" drive in MSDOS mode?

I ask because I've worked on other 68000 machines with IBM emulation,
and they were close but... Everything I ran had little idiosyncracies that
weren't quite right. If I'm going to plunk down $600+ for the card, and
then add another $500-$700 for a hard disk drive, I want to make sure
it's going to work for what I need.

Any replies by E-Mail would be appreciated. If there's interest,
I'll summarize to the net.

A related question: Can it run Microsoft Windows? I suspect not,
because Windows requires a graphics card... does the Bridgeboard
emulate a monographics card, CGA, or anything like that?

It's understandable that Mike Dukakis thinks he can walk on water.
He's used to walking on Boston harbor.

The Bridgeboard software allows the user to emulate either a mono or CGA
screen in an Amiga window. Additionally, you can plug in a graphics card
on the PC side and drive a PC-compatible monitor directly. Yes, Bridgeboard
can run Microsoft Windows.

What I wonder is WHEN the AT bridgecard will do it? Commodore? Any hints?
