[comp.sys.amiga] Lucas Project

_In Message-ID: <1314@teroach.UUCP> Stan Fisher:_
_> I've seen the Lucas board [nexpensive 020 upgrade], a nicely done PCB with_
_> 4 pals for $65, you build. You add the glue chips, processors and sockets/_
_> connectors, etc.) Now I might believe there's enough hardware to cost $300_
_> sans chips and still leave a handsome profit margin but wow!_

_That sounds pretty promising to me (I have an A1000), I'de like to get_
_some more info from anyone who has information about this board,_
_speciffically: how much of a speedup does it give? Any compatibility_
_problems (above an beyond another 68020)? Is there support_
_for 68881, and/or a MMU? What is the total cost of the kit and_
_what does and DOESN'T it include. Plus, if there is anyone out there_
_who has constructed/used this board any comments on difficulty in_
_construction and reliability? I want to get an accelerator for my Amiga_
_(I wnat MORE SPEED!!!!), but I can't really afford $600, I'de like to go_
_with a '20, (the other option is CMI's PA) if I could get the board at a_
_reasonable cost (I already have a 68881 {stuck in starboard MFM}, so_
_if I could get the board built for $300, I could spare another $200 for a_
_16Mhz 68020....). And finally How do you get one of these kits?_

I second this motion since as a subscriber to AMIGA TRANSACTOR I feel that
both transactor and the author owe us this article! If the author feels he
shouldn't post an article that he was paid for please mail me a copy. If he
wants I will send him my subscription number.

TRANSACTOR.......How about sending us subscribers copies of the European
version at least!!!!!!

I don't know that there is a good way to send the Lucas project docs over
the net. I downloaded the thing from BUX-- over 300K arced!! I expect it
will come out on a fish disk or some such. How about someone putting it up
on an anonymous UUCP site? I'd do it here, but right now my machine is
sharing a phone line with the family.

The Lucas Project disk was posted from here to comp.source.amiga last week.
I think it should be out on the net fairly soon.

Cheers,
