[comp.sys.amiga] Clarification and public apology

thad@cup.portal.com (Thad P Floryan) (11/02/88)

It has come to my attention that serious misunderstandings and confusion have
resulted from some recent statements of mine. In response to a question about
NewTek's Video Toaster and another person's reply about software, I used very
poor judgment when I included a sentence concerning a matter that was resolved
months ago.

Allegations, speculations and conjectures concerning the identity of AMAZING
COMPUTING's "Bandito" columnist were laid to rest in August after communication
with Don Hicks, Editor of AMAZING COMPUTING.

Specifically:

Paul Montgomery is NOT, and has NOT ever been, the "Bandito."

If he's received even half the messages, email and phone calls I've received
during the past week, I can imagine he's weary of this mess.

Please do NOT bother Paul, NewTek or any of NewTek's employees about these
unfounded and unjustified rumors and allegations. If you want to vent your
anger, frustrations, etc., direct them towards me for having brought up this
matter.

I publicly apologize to Paul for having inflicted this unwarranted attention.

For those who aren't aware, Paul is one of the co-founders of the First Amiga
Users' Group (FAUG), and was recently presented a special Silver Amiga "BOING"
Jacket by Dale Luck in appreciation for having persuaded Dale to continue with
the Amiga after the layoffs at Amiga/Los Gatos during CBM's 1986 difficulties.

Paul flies out from Kansas to California nearly every month at his own expense
to host the FAUG meetings, and I chair the Technical Q&A session. I harbor NO
ill towards Paul and we often meet for pizza and beer after the FAUG meetings.

Unnecessary calls to Paul and/or NewTek delay introduction of products for
which we're ALL waiting, so if you have comments about this matter please
address them to me via email or in person. And, for those who've asked, I've
been assured the 68020 DigiDroid fix and other new features will appear in
DigiView 4.0.

My apologies to everyone, and especially Paul, for having stirred up trouble.
