Now Jerry "Bull in the China Shop" Pournelle is goring UNIX. Again. I don't subscribe to Byte, but I was looking through it in the supermarket checkout line (other people page through Weekly World News, for about the same purpose), and ran across another Jerry Gem. It seems some program has some sort of network execution protection, and when it's run under two instances of Merge 386 it claims you're violating the license agreement. Now instead of blaming the application, he comes up with: "I guess UNIX' idea of multitasking is multiuser". It's not UNIX, Jerry old bean, it's your application program. It'd do the same thing in any other compatibility box. Implicit in the story, by the way, is that he sucessfully installed not only UNIX but also a major application (Merge-386) on a PC clone without having to get his good buddy the manufacturer over to help him. Of course he never points that out... -- Peter da Silva `-_-' peter@sugar.uu.net Have you hugged U your wolf today? Disclaimer: I accept full responsibility for my own typos.
