[comp.sys.amiga] LUCAS rebuttal/apology

monty@sagpd1.UUCP (Monty Saine) (11/02/88)

Excuse me but...

A few days ago I posted a message in respose to rumors of the LUCAS
board on the net and apparently I stepped into a sore subject with the Author,
Brad Fowles. I want to state at this time that I had no intention of impling
that he owed me anything as in owing anything in a legal sense. What I meant
was the very thing he mentions in his README file included with the recent
USNET release of his board, he owes ( this is a bad word for this use so please
do not use it's literal meaning) all of us hackers, both hardware and software,
the widest possible distribution of his work. Mr. Fowles, I greatly appreciate
your time and effort you have put in in this degign and hope you continue.
I sincerly hope that both Amiga Tranactor and Mr. Fowles can continue
producing a fine product.

***MILD FLAME ON ****

This is not directed at Mr. Fowles directly, but his recent response
to brought up a peve I have with the net in general.

It is real easy, since no one is there to give you immediate feedback,
to resort to only slightly hidden use of massive doses of "four letter words".
I don't really feel that most people would talk to anyone this way and they
add nothing at all to the content of the posting ( unless you are trying to
excite people for the sole purpose of generating net traffic).

Can't we all please calm it down and use reason instead of massive
verbal abuse?
***FLAME OFF ***
Again I am sorry if I offended Mr. Fowles, that was never my intent.
