This is cross-posted from People/Link's AmigaZone: part of a conversation concerning a new CBM package deal whereby the buyer of a special Amiga 500 bundle gets a free VCR. The question had come up about who was getting the VCR - the dealer or the retail customer..... ======begin quote===== ----- Club : AMIGA ZONE Sec: 2 Date : 10/30/88 6:06 Num: 37,381 Theme: VCR DEAL To : CBM*STEVE (r) By : PUBLISHER Title: R#37318 VCR DEAL FOR ALL END USERS ----- I bet you saw the Commodore dealer alert. After ordering 32 machines, I read that, and thought, like you, that it was one vcr per 4 computers. I called C= immediately! She reassured me that the original order info was correct that it was ONE VCR per A500 system. In yesterday's mail, we received C= approved ad slicks for the promotion. They show an A500 system with a VCR sitting on top of the monitor. The headlines read "Free VCR When You Buy A Commodore Amiga 500 Fast Forward System For Only" The retail price is left blank as we can put whatever value we want on the packages we bought. The only constraint is that we cannot charge extra for the VCR. According to the ad, the Fast Forward System includes *A500 *1084S monitor *A software package worth $450.00, including programs for word processing financial management, graphics, home video titling, and entertainment. The titles are subject to change upon availability, but they mentioned Textcraft Plus, TV Text, Ferrari Formula I, Money Mentor, and a couple of others, including a graphics and painting program I have never heard of, and whose name escapes me at this time. The VCR is a Brooksonic (?!?) VHS unit with wireless remote, 4 week timer and a couple of other niceties, and according to the ad sliks has a suggested retail of $299.00 (probably worth $175 at the discount stores). This is getting long winded. See you later. John/Publisher =======end quote========= Disclaimer: I don't know any more about this than what you just read above. I wonder if you also get the appropriate adapter so that you can hook the A500 to the free VCR and get something besides black & white?
