[comp.sys.amiga] Spreadsheet and financial management programs needed

dedina@cup.portal.com (Michael J Dedina) (11/03/88)

I plan to buy a spreadsheet and a personal finance management program for
my Amiga. I haven't seen many reviews on these types of programs, though.
Can anyone make any recommendations? Thanks...

On the spreadsheet front I can reccomend Analyze! 2.0 and MaxiPlan Plus V1.9.
Analyze has better compatibility with Lotus 1-2-3 spread sheets (it will
read and write them) MaxiPlan has better Amiga specific stuff like the
charts and the cell notes. I also tend to like MaxiPlans user interface
better. So I would normally reccomend MaxiPlan except that it has some
bugs that are weird, and more importantly it doesn't work well with low
memory conditions. V1.9 fixes many of the bugs in 1.8 but still has an
occasional gotcha or two. Oxxi has assured me that the "real" 1.9 (there
was an early 1.9 that began shipping in the new boxes, this new 1.9 fixes
some bugs in that and will be shipping to registered 1.x owners) went to
the bulk mailer today (11/3/88).

As for personal finance I have no clue. My wife uses Managing your Money
on the PC for our household finances, and while MECA hasn't said they
*won't* port it to the Amiga, they haven't said they would either. I'm
about ready to offer to do the port since having the PC around is not
much use.

These opinions are my own and no one elses, but you knew that didn't you.
