[Does anybody care about this after the recent UN*X virus?] Hi folks, For all of you who recently found a message port in your Amiga named "Styx-Hades_Gate", relax, it isn't a virus. This port caught my attention during one of my regular runs of the ListScanner program by my fellow brewer Heiko Rath (on Fish #139 and in a new revision soon at an UseNet node near you). Since the port was so strangly named and didn't point towards a valid task structure, I thought that I might have been hit by a new virus. But one day of investigation showed that this port is a leftover of the program TaskControl by J. Martin Hippele on Fish #159. Bad, Martin, bad. Besides not freeing a resource you nearly gave me a heart attack. :-) Someone should tell Martin about this, Fred??? For all who ever used WindowArranger by Heiko (Fish #139) and cursed it because it locked the system when trying to arrange a window while a screen with no window was in front (like DMouse or PopCLI), fear not, help is on the way. After three long debugging sessions the insect has been smashed. WindowArranger and an widely enhanced version of RemLib should be on .sources and .binaries soon, if Bob can keep up his pace from the last weeks. Great job he's doing! There now exists a Transputer board developed by the CBM group in Braunschweig. This is an official statement, so CBM will support the "Transputer path", too. Perihelion made an enhanced (non-graphic) Helios OS for that board. The graphic user-interface will use... X-windows!!! Looks like good buisiness for Boing Inc. (hi Dale). As soon as I've all the details (like prices, availability), I'll post them. Yeah, the first file (link) virus did (sorta) hit the streets here in Germany. It was obviously made by a braindead hacker/cracker group called IRQ, and still has some major flaws (thanks heavens), which make it's detection relativly easy. Since this beast doesn't seem to be officialy "released" (believe me, I know how weird this sounds), the person from who this information initiated will try to stop it's "release" in the first place. I'll post all the informations on how to stop this virus as soon as it's definitivly released. But any information reveiled at this stage would only help the author(s) to enhance it.
