[net.general] The USENET Compact Directory

ksh (10/21/82)

A new feature, the USENET compact directory, has been posted to
newsgroup net.news.map, in 9 separate articles. This directory
will eventually replace the map currently being posted monthly
to that newsgroup. The directory is organized by state, and
contains not only site name and connection information, but also
the organization name, location, and information about the
contact person.

The directory is only as good as the information that goes into it,
and there are a number of sites that we don't have any information
for. Also, we are sure that our information for many sites is out
of date. So we request that each site check the information we have
for that site, and mail corrections to cbosgd!map. If a field is
blank, this means the information is missing, and we would like someone
to tell us what goes in that slot, even if it's "the contact person
doesn't have a phone". The UUCP slot is deliberately blank - we intend
to (possibly) include UUCP connections, for mail routing purposes,
but we haven't done it yet, and we are not requesting UUCP connection
information at this time.

For anyone ambitious enough to print out the directory, we would appreciate
any and all corrections you can make, about your site and any other sites
you notice mistakes in. We want to make the map as accurate as possible.
