I am looking for any documentation on the correct usage of the various newsgroups. Also any tutorials on readnews (I have Mark Horton's). I received a few responses to my proposal of introductory articles in net.general #1 et seq. and would like to compile some of the necessary data. Misc questions: Could someone list the 'usually read' news groups, so I can document how to choose a group. (I'll probably put this in net.general because I don't know if net.news is widely read). Is there a net.humor for non-joke amusing material? Can anyone create a new net.group just by making a typo? If so, can this 'feature' be limited somehow? My .newsrc is full of defunct groups, which I can't remove. Now I'm pushing some limit of 100 groups. My "options -n all !* ..." list has also hit 1024 characters, causing readnews to croak.
