[comp.sys.amiga] BADGE Meeting Nov 10th

cmcmanis%pepper@Sun.COM (Chuck McManis) (11/10/88)

The November BADGE meeting is being held November 10th, on the Stanford
Campus in Turing hall. The speaker for the meeting is Dale Luck of
GfxBase who will be demonstrating his product The X Window System for
the Amiga. The Meeting will start at 8:00 PM and finish at 11:00 PM.
Additionally, there is the "after the meeting meeting" at the Oasis
on El Camino. Note that normally it would be the THIRD thursday, however
next week has a conflicting event. For more information on the meeting
contact Thad Floryan on Portal (portal!thad) and for more information
on X contact Dale Luck (...!cbmvax!amiga!gfxbase!dale). See you there.

(Wide distribution due to the interest in X on the Amiga)

These opinions are my own and no one elses, but you knew that didn't you.

You sure about that? Tom announced at FAUG that it would be the 16th --
that's right *Wednesday*. So what's the deal? Thad? Tom? Leo? Dale?

Although I do contract work for Amiga-LosGatos, my opinions probably
don't represent those of Commodore or its management or its engineers,
but I think the world would be a better place if they did.

Re: November BADGE meeting ...

There were numerous email SNAFUs (bounced email, mail held for 5 days as
undeliverable, etc.) which caused tacit assumptions ("silence is consent" :-)
about the scheduling changes.

We're OFFICIALLY blaming the confusion on the Internet Virus since the mail
routing passed thru many affected sites.

To avoid future fiascos, we've all exchanged voice phone numbers to expedite
communication.

I attempt to post the "official" meeting notice approx. 7 days before the
event since:

1) meetings are normally the 3rd Thursday of each month, and

2) experience has shown that a 2-week prior posting will be "forgotten" or
expired, and a 1- or 2-day advance notice won't reach all sites.

All always, I have a ASCII "Badge Map" (roughly) detailing the directions to
the meeting site; I was just presented (yesterday) with an official Stanford
map that I'll digitize and make available to anyone who asks.

Advance notice of December 1988 meeting:

Thursday, Dec.15, 1988, Turing Aud, Stanford campus

Stu Ferguson discussing "User Interface Design" using MODELER 3D as an example.

Jan. 1989 meeting will hopefully feature Jon/Don/John (cannot read my OWN
handwriting!) Meissner (sp? (will be corrected on official posting)) formerly
of Lattice/SAS speaking on Lattice 5.0
