The Amiga made The New York Times today: Wed, Nov 16 issue, page 45 national edition, the column on advertising: Reprinted without Permission: ================================================================ Ads by Amiga The MIDI synthesizer put a lof of commerical musicians out of business. Will Commodore International Ltd.'s Amiga 500 computer do the same to companies that produce commercials? That is the implications of the new campaign for the Amiga created by Griffin Bacal. The seven 15-second animated television spots were created entirely on teh computer. Norman Hajjar, the agency's vice-president and management supervisor, even played creative director on this account, making several commercials on the two Amigas he has at home. Total cost: less than $50,000. "There was no production company involved anywhere," Mr. Hajjar said. ============================================================== It looks like we have some commercials to look forward to this coming holiday season. --george "You talk the talk, but do you walk the walk?" They seem shorter than 15 seconds though... There are also A500 ads on Much Music, a Canadian music network (much better music than MTV, but that's a different subject) shown locally in Columbus on channel 8. -- Jeff

Opinions would be interesting too. thanks --george ARPA: bier@cs.wisc.edu UUCP: ...!{harvard,seismo,topaz,akgua,allegra,usbvax}!uwvax!bier

To top off the New York Times bit, I thought I would add a little something. While switching channels I caught the last 5 seconds of an Amiga commerical on MTV!!! All I saw was a picture of a man whose ears grew (while the announcer was saying it has stereo sound). Then the announcer (the female voice from "Only Amiga") says "Only on the Amiga". Gee, real advertising, what will C-A think of next :-).
