I've found a little problem with Format and 1.3. First the hardware configuration: Amiga 2000 A2090 controller ASDG 2MB ram MiniScribe 3650 disk (ST506) Fujitsu M2246SA disk (SCSI) The 'prep' in use is that shipped with the A2090 dated 28-Oct-87 and the 'hddisk' is that recently posted to the net. What happens is that the MiniScribe will prep and format with no problems under 1.3 and appears to function corrrectly. The Fujitsu drive will prep and the partition defined in prep will format. Any other partitions will not format. The system either gurus or format will exit with the message "system/format: can't find handler". It doesn't matter whether the partition is being formatted for FFS or NOFFS. The hardware in question has been working for some time with 1.2 and thus I didn't believe that it was at fault. I did find that if I prep'd and formatted all of the partitions with 1.2 I could then reformat the drive with 1.3 with no problems! The mountlists for 1.3 and 1.2 differ only in that the 1.3 version has the entries for GlobVec, Mount, FileSystem, and DosType. A typical mountlist entry for one of the partitions on the Fujitsu is: DH2C: Device = hddisk.device Unit = 3 Flags = 0 Surfaces = 10 BlocksPerTrack = 33 Reserved = 2 Interleave = 0 LowCyl = 300 ; HighCyl = 559 Buffers = 30 BufMemType = 4 StackSize = 4000 GlobVec = -1 Mount = 1 FileSystem = L:FastFileSystem DosType = 0x444F5301 # -- =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Jim Levie REMTECH Inc Huntsville, Al The opinions expressed above are just that.
