[comp.sys.amiga] Disk Probs..Adding old memory

beldavsa@silver.bacs.indiana.edu (11/21/88)

I only received one reply for my plea for a program that will add my "old"
form of fast memory through kickstart (instead of using addmem in
my start-up sequence). This makes me believe that such a program
does not exist. The one reply I got was from a person telling me
that he would send me some mods that I could apply with a sector
editor like sectorama to add the memory. I didn't feel to comfortable
doing this, so I held off. After waiting a while with still no replies,
I decided to go for it, and hack up my kickstart. Unfortunatly, my reply
was bounced, and I have been unable to get through to the person. Could
someone please send me the mods I have to do to add my 512k to
kickstart? The command I use in the start-up sequence is
"addmem 400000 47fffe". Does
this give enough information, or should I go searching through the
documentation of the memory board to find out some more information?

My amiga (1000) is also having some problems. More disks seem to go
bad lately than I am comfortable with. I have also purchased a couple
programs that would not run on my machine, but would run at the store.
I'm hoping my disks heads are just unnaligned - if so, how do I go
about re-aligning them?

Thanks...
