The situation: I have an Amiga 2000 and was reading with great interest the different results which people have had with their hard disk interfaces. I was looking to get Kickstart 1.3 in ROM so that I could have an autobooting hard disk, and I was trying to decide between a SCSI and an ST506 drive (price/capacity tradeoff being the choice) But now, I may HAVE to do some work at home under MS-DOS (ugh!) and I was thinking of getting an AT Bridgecard (which will be here RSN). The question: How to proceed? Given that I want the best of both worlds (i.e.) an autobooting Amiga hard drive and the ability for the IBM side to use a hard disk. (I don't think that the IBM side can access an Amiga side hard drive; correct me if I am wrong) Thanks for any responses, Jerry Zarycky Usenet: {uunet,watmath}!csri.toronto.edu!drz CSNET: drz@csri.toronto.edu EAN: drz@csri.toronto.cdn BITNET: drz@csri.utoronto

You can create a file on the Amiga device that can act as a virtual drive for the IBM side. I don't know how fast it is, though. >Thanks for any responses, > >Jerry Zarycky Tim. > -- timg@ziebmef.UUCP {uunet!mnetor!lsuc, utgpu}!ncrcan!ziebmef!timg

JLINK files can be RAM, floppy or hard disk based. Calling your attention to Marco Papa's repost from BIX regarding CBM products at Comdex, Janus 2.0 software will allow PC autobooting from pseudo hard disk (Amiga file). This version is still in testing phase; however the current software does allow you, via JLINK, to use your Amiga hard disk for PC operations. -- ======================================================================== Joe O'Hara || Comments represent my own opinions, Commodore Electronics Ltd || not my employers.
