I've been told that the Atari SC1224 monitor (ST color monitor) makes a fine Amiga monitor. I've also been told (by somebody else) that it cannot display all the colors that the Amiga is capable of putting out. Could somebody give me a definitive answer? Also, when are the "flicker-free" Amiga video chips slated to be avaiable and what kind of monitor will they require?

I have been using an Atari SC1224 ever since I found out that the 1080 was nothing more than a 1902 without the analog circuitry removed, and that the Atari monitor was $300 (Cdn) cheaper than the 1080. At that time, I did not know how easy it was to modify the 1902. Anyway, it has worked fine since late '85, and still provides me with good service. One caveat: The newer 1224's are not made by the same company, and though I don't know this from direct experience, they are supposedly not as bright or as good as the older models. I also hear that the Atari puts out a higher level video, and that the saturation of the colours when the Atari monitor is used on an Amiga is not as good. -larry -- "Intelligent CPU?
