[comp.sys.amiga] FFS on Overdrive

Makes complete sense. I'm wrestling with the same things you
are. And I'm not finding good answers.

Directory listings are roughly 2x faster. The block read/write numbers
that DISKPERFA reports are not that much different between OFS and FFS.
I am using version 1.3 of the ODutils program to low-level format the
drive and I'm using the Overdrive.device and Overdrive.drives files that
came along with the new ODUtils. (At least, I assume that they are the
newest files.) These are supposed to be optimized for FFS. I suspect
that I've just got something not-quite-right in my mountlist. But I've
been tweaking it for several days now and I'm getting tired of
reformatting. (Though, I've gotten quite fast at rebuilding the disk
after each time. :-)

I'm like you, though, I'm not at all unhappy, just wanting to get the
most out of it that I possibly can.
