[comp.sys.amiga] Problem with GURUs

Several weeks ago I posted a request for help with "FastMemFirst GURUs".
Since then I have received a number of replies by E-mail and have seen a
growing number of articles on the net concerning similar gurus. This is
starting to look like a general problem and I am interested in gathering
information on it. If anyone experiences system crashes that follow the
pattern outlined in this article please send me E-mail indicating your
system configuration, software that was running (including backgrounds),
the GURU numbers and any other information concerning the incident.

The problem: people are reporting multiple "Software Failure - Task Held"
requesters and subsequent GURUs when using WorkBench1.3, the Fast File
System, at least 1Megabyte of expansion RAM (FAST RAM), a SCSI hard disk
and controller (Supra, GVP and Pacific Peripherals controllers have been
mentioned) and any one of several programs (DPaint, FastMemFirst, vt100,
popcli, moria, the list continues to grow). Many different GURU numbers
have been reported but no distinct correlations have appeared.

The ideas put forth so far have centered around making sure SetPatch is
very early in your startup-sequence and making sure that all RAM has been
tested. I have SetPatch and I have tested all available RAM for hours but
I still have the problem. However, I disconnected my FAST RAM three days
ago and have not seen the GURU since. I smell a rat but I can't find him.
YET!

Any help, ideas or information anyone has will be appreciated. I have read
and benefitted from this newsgroup for several years and feel it is time
that I became a contributor.
