Does anyone know of sources for second external floppy disk drives for A500s or A1000 which have their own power supplies? The docs all say DF2: and following should provide their own "wall power", but all the vendors seem to think I'm nuts. So what's the deal? Does anybody carry outboard drives with wall power and pass-through? I've heard the power supplies on A500/1000s die if too much load is put on them, and I don't want to have to deal with that. Note that both of the machines I'm particularly interested in have internal memory exp. and one external floppy already. Thanks, --Todd M. Lewis

Todd M. Lewis has some questions about a third floppy dirve for Amy 1000 and 500. I can't really comment on 500 but with the 1000, there have been many people who used three Amiga drives without problems. HT Electronics currently runs their BBS on such a machine. I do not believe they use expansion memory but the system has been running for years that way. I have an insider and a t third drive made by California Access. When I asked a few hardware gurus at the local user group they said the new micro 3.5" drive use such little power that an outboard supply is not necessary. That is what Ca. Access says also. The drive is spec'd at 2 watts. Now if your system is loaded with memory and peripherals then you may need to run a few calculations but apparantly 1.5 meg of memory and two drives don't cause any problems. ^ ^ o o Feline = . = Grace v
