There is a rather lengthy product comparison of electronic paint
programs in this week's Infoworld magazine. Alas, the discussion
assumes that an MSDOS machine as the default harware being used.
There is high praise for Deluxe Paint II. Interestingly the Amiga
is paid tribute at the same time; I quote from page 64:
"Deluxe Paint achieved stardom as the leading paint
program on the Amiga. In fact, a great many Amigas have
been sold on the strength of their graphics superiority
over the competition, and much of that reputation rests
on the features and capabilities of this program [ DP II ].
Now we have a near twin running on the IBM PC and
PS/2-compatible machines.
...provides 85 percent of the power of $3,000 programs
for just $149. It will prove even more valuable as
Electronic Arts brings its other Amiga graphics programs
to MS-DOS. We rate Electronic Arts' Deluxe Paint an
excellent value."
Well, I guess that is sort of praise of the Amiga after the fact.
I wish they would have added, '...or just go out and buy an Amaiga
and have it all now!' as the closing sentence of the last
paragraph. I like that little dig at the PS/2: 'near twin',
implying that the Amiga is still better.
Enjoy!
