I would like to get some PostScript files from an AmigaDos format 3.5" disk on to a Mac-II format 3.5" disk. Is there any utility that does this. If there is no utility on the Amiga side, is there one on the MAC side? Wilson Cheung

I have been doing something very similar to what you are asking for. I have an advantage, however. I have access to a Big Mac and a Mac II. I transfer the files via modem (and sometimes null modem) from the Amiga to the Big Mac (now the little Mac) using Red Ryder (very good shareware for the Mac). I have Red Ryder strip the extraneous linefeeds. I then read the files into Word and strip the padding at the VERY end of the file (strange codes don't get along well with Postscript devices). This could be better done with a utility, but I haven't had time to write one and only have occasional access to the Mac. Then I either send the PostScript file directly to the Laser printer or drop it into PageMaker if I want to make any further modifications and then print it. If it is a graphic and it doesn't include the bitmap information for display purposes, it will display as a shaded rectangle. To go directly to the Laser printer--in my case a LaserWriter, you select the mode (interactive, batch, etc.. To get interactive mode, you type the command EXECUTIVE [RETURN]. You should get the prompt: PS> then you can use a text transfer method to download to the printer. Another possibility in

is perhaps to hook directly, via modem to the laser printer. The
LaserWriter, for example, has a standard RS232c port and can communicate
at 9600 or 1200 baud. You don't have to convert files over to the Mac
format unless you are going to be modifying them further on that system.
Oh, I forgot to mention. Since I am transferring to the little Mac, the
modem is no problem. Then I just pop the disk and walk over to the Mac
II to print the files.
Hope this is some help. The most direct solution would be Amiga->
Modem->Laserprinter via RS232. Never mind the Mac!
