One problem I have found with the MPS-1000 pirnter is that when you are working with the IBM mode (almost completely Epson compatible), the only way to get the printer to output ANYTHING is to open the printer with a secondary address of 255 or no S.A. at all. The problem is this : most software will NOT let you pick the secondary address with which it opens the printer. And unless the printer is opened with the right address, it will just sit there doing nothing. If you modify the software to use the correct address (or none at all), the software will perform BETTER in the IBM mode with some Epson driver selected than it will if you have the printer set to Commodore mode using a 1525 driver. (i.e. Graphics Dumps are hundreds on times faster in IBM mode, and IBM mode has underlineing, condensed chars., etc.) So my question is this: Does anybody know of a hardware fix (ANYTHING!) that will cure the IBM mode of the MPS-1000, so that it will print no matter WHAT secondary address is passed to it. Maybe there's a ROM update or a simple circuit adjustment?
