[comp.sys.amiga] Is there a Unix Zoo?

jxc@rayssdb.ray.com (Jeffrey J. Clesius) (12/10/88)

Does anyone know of a version of zoo which executes on Unix systems?

Perhaps the source code is proprietary in nature; but if not, it would
be useful to 'unzoo' something on the Unix end to inspect and/or print the
documentation without having to first download the zoo file to the Amiga
just to find out you really don't want it; or if you DO want it, transmit
the documentation back for printing. (Oh, gripe, moan and complain!)

It's also nice to find out if the zoo file is corrupted BEFORE you go through
the time and trouble to download it.

If you have the C-source to zoo (such as comes on at least one fish disk),
it will compile and link on a Un*x system. I copied the source to my work
machine (an IRIS 4D70G running SysVr3.1 with much BSD and custom mods), and
it compiled and linked with no problem. Just choose one of the Un*x options
in the makefile. I don't have ZOO v2.0 running, but I can at least read
the newest .zoo files. I also unshar, uudecode, etc, on the IRIS, then zoo
it up for transmission to the Amiga -- much better bandwith usage!
