Well, a friend gave me a copy of an article out of an unknown magazine.
In this article the specifications of the Amiga "3000." I don't know if any
of this is true (it probably is mostly guesswork and fiction), but I thought
I'd pass it along, and also ask for input. So, here's what they said:
Hardware: 68030 CPU with a 68851 MMU (Memory Management Unit) and a 68882
floating-point co-processor all running at 25MHZ.
8MB standard memory on the motherboard, 4MB CHIP and 4MB FAST RAM.
Expandable to 4.29 GB main memory.
14 expansion slots: 2 32bit slots for memory, 3 32bit slots for
3000 specific hardware, 3 16bit slots (compatible with 2000
boards), 4 PC/AT slots, and 2 video slots.
Built in auto-booting hard disk controller (SCSI and ST506
connectors).
Comes with 40MB or 100MB 12ms hard disk.
Four half height 5.25" drive slots.
Optional 800MB WORM (Write Once Read Memory) optical disk.
Two 1.44MB 3.5" disk drives, compatible with old AmigaDOS.
5 new custom chips: A "secret" sound chip with CD quality sound,
PAULA chip for I/O and disk I/O processing.
DENISE chip.
FATTEST AGNES.
A new special graphics support chip.
All chips are 32bit and will address the full 4.29GB possible.
Graphics: Resolution from 320x200 to 1280x800.
Special hi-res mode of 1920x1200 resolution in 32 colors.
16 million color palette.
Workbench resolution of 1000x800 in 32 colors (5 bitplanes).
Three new multisync monitors to support it: the A3014 (14"),
A3019 (19"), and A3019HR (with max res of 2000x1500).
Operating System: WorkBench and KickStart 2.0 (!).
KickStart with new libraries (resident): IFF, MIDI, 3d, speech
recognition, and a frame buffer support library.
Built in GURU "killer" (ala GOMF(tm)) in KickStart.
WorkBench supports multiple monitors; you can have several
monitors hooked up, each with a different screen!
Fully compatible with old Amiga programs.
Unit: Tower case, 2 joystick ports with 1 for cordless mouse.
OK, now... Sounds good, huh? And for the suggested price of "slightly
less than a Mac II or PS/2 model 80". But, is this real or just a dream?
I wonder if the article is a suggestion of what it should be, a rumor, a
made up product (another 2500 spoof :-(), or possibly it has some truth?
Comments, Commodore-Amiga?

PS: I almost forgot: my position. Well, looks nice, but I would like to see
some UN*X support. If this is intended to be a workstation, it may not be
enough. Don't get me wrong, I would own one. But others might not.

The article which was referred to is in a magazine called AmigoTimes. The editor is Eyo Sama, and the author of the aritcle is Eyo Sama. HE EXPRESSLY states that this article is based on RUMOR, HEARSAY, and should not be considered as the gospel truth. After having read the article, I was salivating profusely, but I had to remind myself it was only ficition. Bill Murphy
