I have started to use AmiGantt vers.2.01.01 and I must say that I appreciate very much the efforts of Donald R. Tolson who wrote it ! The program does almost everything commercial Project Mgt. Programs do. But that's not enough in many cases. I'm suggesting ( can you hear me Donald ? ) to extend the features of AmiGantt ( I'm willing to cooperate, even if I'm not a too programmer I can help specially in the test phase ) mainly in the resource handling method: Instead of using 'unlimited resources' use ` finite resources'. This means that instead of simply accounting for the resources requirements , the program check the availability of the resources ( predefined ) and apply a `chosen strategy' in case there is a shortage of a given resource. Let's make an example: ** Your project require that programs A and B will be done by an intuition expert. You have only JOE able to do it. The two programs may be developed in parallel ( 5 days/ each). The actual version will say that your Project will last 5 DAYS and that you need twice the resource JOE for the duration of the project. ** In the new proposed implementation you first define the resource JOE as 1 unit continuous. When you introduce Task Progr. A it will allocate all the available resource of JOE for the first 5 days. When you will introduce Task Progr. B it will realize that there is a slippage of he Project due to lack of resources and will propose to allocate B after A ( FIFO strategy). You can take it or change it ( such as sharing the resource allocating 50% of JOE time for each task ( TIME SHARING strategy). By forcing a specific strategy it is possible to have a better idea of how long is going to last a project since the very first pass of planning. Donald, if you are interested in doing it or in sharing your sources. pls contact me : zabot%cesare.dec@decwrl.dec.COM If anyone else is interested, pls let me or Donald know.

This is the first I've heard of AmiGantt. Where can I find a copy? lee
