[I hope the line-eater over-ate himself this Xmas as badly as I did.] Okay, okay, I give up! :-) That is, I take the challenge and announce [tada!] AmiCron 2.6. From the weirdo that brought you AmiCron 2.4 and 2.5 and who simply can't stand to see another utility engulfed by the hyperactive megaprogrammer Matt Dillon. :-) :-) ;-) :-D AmiCron 2.6 will be released in the second week of January to our moderator (Hi Bob!) and Fred Fish. AmiCron 2.6 features: - Complete backward compatibility. - Optional complete backgrounding (no need for a CLI window). - Optional redirection of the output of all commands that are called by AmiCron into a file. Pretty handy when searching for mishaps if previous option is active. - Complete Workbench support, that is an Icon and appropriate tooltypes. - A message port (finally). This will is used to signal a running AmiCron to read in a new CronTab, to cease it's existance, etc. - Looks for ENV:CronTab, too. (Let's help the standard!) - Major internal cleanup and optimisation. - Whatever useful features I can think of (and test out!) in the meantime. - No AREXX port! What did posses you Dale? :-) I own and use AREXX myself and one could write a Cron using AREXX, but an AREXX port for AmiCron? What could/should AmiCron tell AREXX and vice versa? Credits and thanks for this version must go to Rick Schaeffer (the initial port), Rob Peck (the timer functions), Mike Meyer (some C lessons:-), Gunnar Nordmark (the fantastic Null: device) and Carolyn Scheppner (Workbench support). BTW, "I don't know whhhhy", but Execute() doesn't search the Resident list, something I stumpled across several times, but is really annoying in conjunction with AmiCron. Any chance for that to change in 1.4??? Have fun and a happy new year, - <CB> P.S. I've a new UUCP/InterNet address, but Email to "schabacker@frambo.dec.com" will still be forwarded for some time. -- _ _ / / | \ \ <CB> aka Christian Balzer - The Software Brewery - < < |-< > UUCP: decwrl!frambo.dec.com!cb OR cb@frambo.dec.com \ \_ |_/ / CIS : 71001,210 (be brief!) | Phone: +49 6150 4151 (CET!) ------------ Mail: Im Wingertsberg 45, D-6108 Weiterstadt, F.R.G.
