As the author of the product Benchmark-Modula-2 I have an announcement
about the future of the product which I developed. The product will
not be published by Oxxi, Inc. The product is being published by my
own company Avant-Garde Software. The product will be available
world-wide through Avant-Garde Software, retail dealers, mail order
and other standard distribution channels. The product will continue
to use the name Benchmark Modula-2! Oxxi, Inc. is not authorised to
sell the product beginning on September 10, 1987!!! The reasons for
this change in distribution is a matter between myself and Oxxi, Inc.
and I am not at liberty to discuss it, so please don't ask.
I apologize for any inconvenience which this may cause for customers
who have already purchased the product and I promise to do everything
in my power to make sure you will never regret your investment in
Benchmark Modula-2!!!
PLEASE DO NOT POST MESSAGES SPECULATING ABOUT THIS SITUATION! IT WILL
NOT HAVE ANY LASTING EFFECT ON THE PRODUCT IN ANY WAY! WITHIN A FEW
WEEKS THIS WILL ALL HAVE BLOWN OVER AND EVERYTHING WILL BE RIGHT ON
SCHEDULE! THIS PRODUCT WILL BE AROUND FOR AS LONG AS THE AMIGA IS
AROUND AND THIS CHANGE IN DISTRIBUTION WILL IMPROVE THE CUSTOMER
SUPPORT AND INSURE THE SUCCESS OF THE PRODUCT!
If you have purchased the product already, you have SEVERAL CHOISES:
1. I will be doing my VERY best to support users who have purchased the
product. I WILL PROVIDE CUSTOMER SUPPORT TO EVERYONE WHO HAS
PURCHASED THE PRODUCT! I AM WILLING TO DO THIS AT A LOSS, BECAUSE I
WANT TO KEEP MY CUSTOMERS HAPPY! YOU HAVE NO OBLIGATION TO PAY ME A
PENNY!
2. Expect Oxxi, Inc. to deliver support and updates. This will be very
difficult since they do not have the expertise nor any of the source
code for Benchmark Modula-2.
3. Pay my company Avant-Garde Software $100 to receive support, upgrades
and other services from Avant-Garde Software. This is absolutely NOT
required but will allow me to ship the free upgrade and provide
comprehensive customer support.
Whichever path you choose to take please contact me by some means to
let me know that you have the product and to receive further
information. I have no way of finding out how many have received the
product without your cooperation, so please contact me as soon as
possible! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
With all those items out of the way, I have some good news. The
product Benchmark Modula-2 is immediately available from my company
Avant-Garde Software in Dallas, Texas the phone number is
(214)-964-0260. If you wish may also contact me electronically via
uucp or CompuServe or via regular mail, those addresses may be found
at the end of this message. Since uucp is not the most reliable form
of communication, a telephone call would be best.
Avant-Garde Software has manufactured a limited number of pre-release
versions of Benchmark Modula-2. This pre-release version is available
immediately at [$299] U.S. dollars! An order may be placed by
telephone, mail, email. But if you send it via email, and do not
receive a prompt email reply, then assume the order did not arrive and
contact us by telephone or a more reliable means of communication!
Payment to Avant-Garde Software may take any of the following forms:
Visa/MasterCard (U.S. or International), Personal or Company Check,
Money Order, Wire Transfer, COD, etc...
Remember, the only company authorised to sell Benchmark Modula-2 is my
own company Avant-Garde Software, no one else may legally sell
Benchmark Modula-2. If you encounter anyone else attempting to sell
the product PLEASE let me know, so I can take the necessary legal actions!

I need to buy a Modula-2 compiler for the Amiga soon and need some help picking which one to get. If anyone out there is using Benchmark Modula-2 I would really appreciate any comments you may have concerning the use and performance of this compiler (or any of the others for that matter).
