Just for the record, I ALWAYS send m~{ registration ca9{d in as soona s I buy a product. Someone earlier indicated that 50% of the battle getting upgrades was sending those in. Well, I purchase OnLine! 2.01 , sent in my card and there were upgrades to 2.10 and 2.11 (as far as I know) and I never heard from them. Today, I get a notice for Online! Platinum. It seems when the upgrade costs a mere 34.95 they are more than happy to send notices. Of course, sucker that I am, I bit, but that isn't the point, is it??????? This is quoted from their latest OXXI Update newsletter: "A-Talk III Updates Those who have release 1.0, or 1.0c of A-Talk III can obtain the latest disk by sending in their original disk to be copied for a $5 charge. If they choose not to send in the disk, the charge for the latest disk is $8. This is to cover the cost of duplication of the disk, handling and shipping." OXXI was indeed sending out updates for free. Unfortunately I updated the software 4 times in 3 months, and they just can't afford the extra expense. As "whoever it was" said in posting "whatever" concerning Online! from Micro Systems Software of Boxa Raton, FL: I have been a commercial software developer for the Amiga since the beginning (AmigaDOS EXPRESS, for example). Way back then, I bought Online v1.0 from MSS. It was advertised to offer VT100 support. Well, it had major bugs and NO VT100 support when I received it. I heard through others that v1.2 fixed this. I called MSS. Their respons was that I "could send some money and get an upgrade". I politely (well maybe not that politely) informed them that if they didn't upgrade me free, then they had fraudulently sold me the first version. They sent the upgrade (v1.2). Their whole attitude seemed pretty sleazy. BTW, I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. i.e. no mailings about upgrades, nothing! Real jerks!@%@&! I just wanted to post this because it seems that they are still doing the same sleazy business. It's a real shame that businesses like these do so well. I just hope that this will help someone feel better when they get shafted this way. [:-) Tom Boyer, Omega Star Software (-:] Please don't reply directly to this email address about this. He's been really nice to let me post a couple of things.
