I am presently using the PD CShell v 3.01A and noticed the following: From info (Internal to the CShell) Unit Size Bytes Used Blk/By-Free Full Errs Status Name DF0: 838K 488 1649 109 51K 93% 0 Read Only Wedge HD BootDisk ^^^^ ^^^ But from C:INFO (WorkBench 1.3) Mounted disks: Unit Size Used Free Full Errs Status Name DF0: 880K 1649 109 93% 0 Read Only Wedge HD BootDisk ^^^^ Did I do something wrong to cause an inconsintancy to the block sizes or is it just a bug from CShell ? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- hpchang@rose.waterloo.{edu,cdn} Hsi P. Out of that 512-bytes, 24 are used for file system redundancy thus you were left with 488-bytes for user data in each disk sector. The 880K represents the total amount of disk space on a normal, old file system floppy which included the file system overhead. The 838K represents the maximum potential user disk space on the disk. >[Did I do something wrong or] is it just a bug from CShell ? Neither. Everything's OK. It just a matter of view point as to how much "data" is on an Amiga floppy. -Rusty- -- Rusty Haddock {uunet!likewise, att, arpa}!hocpa!rusty AT&T Consumer Products Laboratories - Human Factors Laboratory Holmdel, New Joyzey 07733 (201) 834-1023 rusty@hocpa.att.com ** Genius may have its limitations but stupidity is not thus handicapped.
