Ok, before I get flamed to a crisp :-)} I am taking an Operating Systems course and the majority of the labs will be done in the Minix operating system. It be basically be doing simple or not so simple mods to the Minix kernal. I undstand that Minix has(might have been?) ported to machines other than PCs. Here at school we have several Tandy PCs for the labs. I would like to do the labs on my Amiga 2000 at home and not mess with the PC world (as I do not own one or intend to in the next five years). What is the feasiblity of porting Minix to the Amiga? Has someone already done this? No, I do not want to permanently replace AmigaDOS/Exec. I happen to like Exec at least and AmigaDOS is slowly improving(still needs a lot of work!). I think that one might be able to run Minix with Exec. I don't think that running AmigaDOS and Minix is possible. The trackdisk.device runs under Exec, right? I ask this because the Minix file system is seperate from the Minix kernal and runs as a seperate process. So, if I can run Exec and Minix I should up able to R/W floppies in a format readable from AmigaDOS. If I am in left field staring at the sun, please tell me so. I am a novice Amiga programmer. I think doing this might open up a spot here to use the Amiga as a learning platform. \-----------------------------------------------------------/ \ Ray Howard Bitnet: C072ERH@UTARLG / \ #include <std.disclaimers> C072ERH@UTARLVM1 / \ Any sufficiently advanced bug is indistingiushable / \ from a feature. / \ Internet: c072erh%utarlg.decnet@chpc.brc.utexas.edu / \===========================================================/
