[comp.sys.amiga] Using 5.25" drive as df1:

lbl@sfsup.UUCP (+Locklear B.) (01/26/89)

I have a Teac 5.25", 720K drive that I would like to use as df1: on my
Amiga 2000. The main (only?) use would be to transfer information from
IBM formatted disks.

I have examined the pin-outs from the drive and the ones supplied by the Amiga
for the 3.5" drives. They looked identical, but this is not surprising since
I used this drive with my old 520ST. The only problem that I can see is
hooking the power leads of the drive to the power supplied by the Amiga.
The Amiga has power leads compatible with 3.5" drives which are different
than the ones for a 5.25" drive.

2 questions:

1) does anyone know of an adaptor so that I can use 3.5" power with my 5.25"
   drive.

2) does anyone (especially those of you who have already done this!) know of
any problems with using the 5.25" as a second, internal drive?

Thanks in advance,

Barry Locklear
