[net.general] Request for CSH grammar definition

vicki (11/06/82)

Hi
I'm doing an undergrad research project at UCSD trying to
gather empirical information about how people interact with the
c-shell (csh) and what sort of picture or mental description the
"average" user has of the c_shell.
I need some baseline of comparison or objective description
of the shell by which to judge the closeness of fit between the
users idea of what the shell is and the actual intended (or unintended)
image that Bill Joy had in mind when he wrote the shell.
It seems to me that a good way to get a handle on an objective
description of the shell would be a grammar of the shell either in
BNF form or railroad diagram form (syntax diagram).

YES I AM AWARE of the documentation, all 46+ pages of it.
and I am trying to avoid deriving the grammar from that document.
	So...
Does any one out there in netland have such a beast avaliable.
It is possible that it might not be electronically mailable so if someone
has it in paper form I would be willing to buy it and pay handling
charges. If you know of a source for such a document I would like to
get the address. Also I will be glad to forward such information that I
get to anyone that is interested.

	Thanks in advance...
	Vicki
