Ok - here's a good question.... Based on some postings I've seen here, the Amiga is fast becoming a contender in the computer marketplace. Commodore has even gone so far as to start advertising! Ok, next step. Why have we not seen a good comparison chart featuring the Amiga? Why not compare/contrast the following: Amiga 500 Amiga 2000 (HD?) IBM PC AT Compaq 286 Macintosh SE Mac II Amiga 2500 IBM PS/2 models 50, 70 Note price, capablities, performance. Features such as sound, graphics, multitasking (note amount of REQUIRED memory!), number of different OS's available (MSDOS/Unix/AmigaDOS), User interface (graphical vs. textual), etc. Try comparing what you get a) as is, what the "base" system looks like and how much it costs and b) comparitive systems, i.e. a Mac II can run MSDOS (can't it?) just as an A2000 can, what does that cost? With the new graphics board announced, the A2000 can outperform a Mac II (if I have my facts straight) What does that cost, etc. If I don't miss my guess, the reason no-one has done a study like this is they (the "other" guys) don't want to go head-to-head with Amy's price/performance ratio. This means with a study like this, Amy's a dead- shot. Get on it Commodore! - griff ************************************************************************** * Richard E. And don't forget to compare the Atari ST stuff too.
