It's interesting ... you guys have been discussing back & forth about what you want out of a mail order dealer. But I've got an entirely different problem here. We've got a local dealer in Lexington who does a good job with Commodore support, BUT is having a **** of a time getting support from C=. This guy does all the things that one expects from a good dealer, he'll work special deals, he lets people demo software, he knows the computer though the knowledge is somewhat limited, and all the rest. I really want to support this dealer, and I do buy things there from time to time. BUT BUT BUT, he has this problem. I really want to get a copy of WB 1.3 and a 2090A. He's had orders in with C= for a long time to on those and other things. C= did deliver some of his order but not anywhere near all of it. That was almost two months ago, since then? NOTHING. Sigh .. now both items weren't vital until I got a hard disk, but now I have one and it's become vital. You'd think that this dealer would be able to get these things within a two month period. He did manage to help me out though. C= *did* send him a 2000HD sometime recently. So, in order to sell me a 2090A he took it out of the 2000HD. I have a xerox of the manual which came with the 2000HD and a copy of the "ReInstall". I *think* between those two there is enough information & software that I can set up my machine. How do I get 1.3? Well, I've got a couple of friends who have 1.3, I think I could arrange to be an off-site backup for their copy of 1.3 :-). But still I want to have proper manuals for the 2090A and for WB1.3, and that's apparently going to take some doing. I don't understand why this has to happen tho'. This store is *the* major Commodore supplier in this section of the state. There are other stores in town which carry C= stuff, but none with anywhere near the selection that this store carries. This store does carry other equipment, both Atari ST & PC clone stuff. I find it hard to decide which is a sideline to which. However the Amiga stuff does get center stage in the store as well as have the most shelf space. The other stuff has been slowly diminishing over the last year. *** flame on *** In other news, a local dealer can't get 1.3 ROMs (for the past TWO months!) and has been waiting for ALMOST TWO MONTHS for a replacement drive for a A500 in for repair. The unit will not be under warranty by the time the part comes in!
