[What do line-eaters know about Europe?] Hi folks, Just a quick report on some of the (non-disclosureable?) highlights of the just ended 2nd European DevCon in Frankfurt, W. Germany. About 305 people attended the DevCon, but my guess would be that only 60% were REAL (tm) developers, the other 40% were divided into marketroids and (obviously) rich hackers/crackers/demo-writers. C-A was presented by a large group, ranging from the Los Gatos gang members Jim Mackraz and Bob "Kodiak" Burns to the West Chester folks like Dave Haynie, Andy Finkel, Jeff Porter, Carolyn Scheppner, Lauren Brown, Bryce, Bill Koester, Dan Baker and others I can't recall right now. They were of course headed by "Mom Amiga", Gail Wellington. :-) There were also two "external" speakers, namely the highly destilled John Tobes VIII and the radical Tom Rokicki. :-) The person that travelled the longest distance to Frankfurt was someone from California State University, who's name escapes me at the moment. The topics were basically the same as the Washington DevCon, but some pretty much extended and updated. The only prominent "game author" I spotted was Jez San of Starglider fame. So don't expect all those european games to work with NTSC in the near future, since their programmers weren't there to get their heads banged and brains washed. :-) Since I don't wanna spoil Francois Rouaix's report on the DevCon and am probably the only one that took Gail Wellington's words on clearing with CBM on new products and 1.4 features reports seriously, I'll finish this brief report. I'm hoping to meet most of you U.S. developers folks at the S.F. DevCon this summer (if I can afford the trip). - <CB> -- _ _ / / | \ \ <CB> aka Christian Balzer - The Software Brewery - < < |-< > UUCP: decwrl!frambo.dec.com!cb OR cb@frambo.dec.com \ \_ |_/ / CIS : 71001,210 (be brief!) | Phone: +49 6150 4151 (CET!) ------------ Mail: Im Wingertsberg 45, D-6108 Weiterstadt, F.R.G.
