First, I would like to thank everyone for the info on quieter fans for the Amiga 2000. I am going to get the Panasonic fan, and if it's not quiet enough, I'll try the rubber isolation mounting. I'm now in the process of designing a MIDI interface that is combined with a serial port switch. I would like to mount this inside the 2000. I am looking at the two removable panels on the back plate that are lined up with the processor slot. - Are these panels "reserved" for some particular future product? - How far back do current processor-slot boards extend? If all works out o.k., I'll have MIDI in/out/thru jacks and two RS-232 connectors mounted on these two panels, along with a rotary switch that selects between the three serial paths.
