  | Highly unlikely. Nintendo is 6502, Sega is Z80.

Reading this brought to mind an interesting bit of sales information
that appeared in the December 1988 issue of "Electronics" on page 57,
in the Pacific Rim Trends section...

"SEGA ADDS A HO, HO, HO TO SIGNETICS' CHRISTMAS WITH A FIRST TIME
       CONTRACT

A Japanese toy maker expects to make Christmas happier for
Signetics Corp., the Sunnyvale, Calif., subsidary of Philips
international NV, of the Netherlands. Sega Enterprises Ltd.
of Tokyo, a leading Japanese manufacturer of electronic games
and toys, has announced that it will buy Signetics' version
of the 68000 16-bit microprocessor. This is the first time
that a Japanese toy maker has contracted to buy its chips in
the U.S. Sega will buy one million pieces during the first
       year of the multiyear arrangement."

So I wonder what they are going to use these for? Probably a combination
electronic toaster and bread maker :-)

So Commodore, it looks like these guys are going to be interested in
a high performance, 68000 compatible, video graphics chip set soon...

They have one. The Sega 68000 machine has already been released in
Japan (some time ago). It has a 68000 and Z80, and is by NO means even
slightly compatible with the amiga (except they use the same processor).

The SEGA game is a 68000 machine, with very little resemblence to the
Amy. These are slated for release in the fall for Xmas 89. The beastie
is called "MegaDisk", "mega" for 1 megabit (yes, "bit") of memory and
"Disk" for some pinheadded reason by the Japanese marketroids. (It doesn't
use a disk, but looks kinda like one of the portable CD players with a
disk-shaped form on the top. The Japanese love the sound of American
words, and use them with reckless abandon even if they mean nothing.
Witness the the Japanese softdrink named "Sweat").

So, it comes with 128Kbytes, has 128 sprites (I think), 256 colors and
a screen resolution of 320 by 200. And it's small. Only about 7 or
8 inches on the side.

All of this if from memory, I saw one about 3 months ago.
