Reliable or not, there is ONE and only ONE FORTRAN compiler available on
the Amiga. That's the one from Absoft. Many times I wished there was
another alternative, at least to stimulate some competition. But I think
that it would be lost on Absoft. I get the feeling from them that they
don't care about supporting the product. When is the last time they
had a new release? Wasn't over two years ago?

I'm not sure this is true. I've seen a F77 compiler at my Amiga shop that I think isn't the Absoft version. It comes packaged with just a book inside shrink wrap.
