Rusty Haddock recently posted an idea of using the Microbotics Hardframe
2000 disk controller in the A1000 Zorro I compatible Mini-Rack-D card
cage.
Normally such ideas won't work unless you cut the sides off of the card
cage to make the A2000 board fit. But, as Rusty points out, the Hardframe
is a half-card! And...by looking at a photograph of it...I think it will
fit.
As a consequence, I've just called Microbotics who said they'd lend ASDG
a hardframe for test purposes. I will report the results here as soon
as any worthwhile information is gathered.
This is possibly the best news for A1000 card cage owners in a long time.
I'll let you know how it goes.
