[comp.sys.amiga] Hard-disk for AMY

arthurm@tekig4.LEN.TEK.COM (Arthur Metz) (02/09/89)

I intend to buy a hard-disk for an Amiga 2000 with bridgeboard.
I need to use this drive for both the Amiga and PC sides.

	1. Should I get a SCSI drive for an Amiga slot or
should I get a drive to go into a PC slot? I have
been getting conflicting info as to problems accessing
a hard drive on the Amiga side for PC applications. I realize
that I will give up speed if I use a PC hard drive.

        2. Recommendations of drives to buy/avoid?

Please Email any recommendations you might have. If enough info.
is sent, I can summarize for the net.
                                              ..........................

Depends on which side you use most and where you need the speed. Both the
Amiga and PC can take advantage of a hard drive no matter which side it is
on. One point to remember is that you cannot BOOT the Amiga from a PC hard drive
while you can BOOT both the Amiga and PC from an Amiga side hard drive(2090A).

I have read that this will work. Now the question I have is, does it have to
be the 2090A controller or will any autoboot controller work. In particular,
I am thinking of buying a MicroBotics HardFrame card.
