Beware!

Robotroff + Melt = Hang.

Happens every time. Bummer.

But I still luv 'em. I'm waiting to spring robotroff on my roommate when he

Hmmmm ... it's stranger than that! Robotroff + Melt worked fine together
when I executed "melt" from a PopCLI CLI, in which "shell" wasn't running.
Robotroff had been started form the AmigaDOS CLI before I compiled "melt",
and "shell" was running there.

When executed from the AmigaDOS CLI (after having terminated "melt" by
flipping to the "real" screen and clicking on the close gadget for melt,
and after EndCLI'ing the PopCLI), melt "melted", but then the mouse was
"frozen", and I had to re-boot (no Alert or Guru).

I'm using shell v2.05m (Manx version, from Steve Drew), and compiled "melt"
with Manx v3.40a (as received from Manx ... no patches). Robotroff was
uudecoded from the net.

Ideas, anyone? (Doncha just *love* trying to debug multiple program
interaction bugs :-) ! )

/kim

P.S. Great mind candy, these toys! Thanks, Leo! Thanks, Stephen!

Price Reductions for the WEGDE

I hope I don't offends anyone.....

but I consider this information to be somewhat news-worthy although it is
commercial in nature. Hit "n" to avoid this blatent commercialism.
(beam me up Scotty).

I have not been on the Net for a while as we have been too busy getting
them out the door. We are about to bring out a few new products so we are
reducing the price on the WEDGE.

WEDGE 1000 hard drive interface (no case) 145.00 US
WEDGE 500 (includes ergonomic case) 160.00 US

Both require the DTC controller card (5150 MFM or 5160 RLL), Power supply,
cables, any ST506 hard drive (we have almost all of them out there now) and
our Software. You might also think about putting the drive in a case :-)

Shipping and handling is 18.00 to anywhere in the US. We take VISA.

The WEDGE is the cheapest way to add a hard drive to an Amiga 1000 or 500.

Thank you for bearing with me on this.

Direct all flames to nil: You were warned.

A question on the WEDGE (TM or whatever):
I've heard that it doesn't work with an Insider (TM/whatever) (on
the A1000, of course!), is this true?
 Curiously,

I heard the same thing, but from me its only hearsay.

To anyone responding to this message:

Remember that Ike Stoddard is collecting a summary by email of information
about internal memory expansions for the 1000 and how well they work with
other hardware. So if you want to answer this question, either send mail to
Ike (IAS2033@draper.com) too, or post it or reply by email to this message
and I'll forward it to him, as previously promised.

Last I heard Ike's news feed was essentially dead, but the mail still goes
through. So it looks like I'll probably be posting the summary as well.

The Insider is the only memory expansion unit that we have had any problem
with. In the past 6 months we have had over 2 dozen A1000s with Insiders
successfully running with a WEDGE and Hard Drive. There has only been one that
has not.

Early last year we began making modifications to the WEDGE to accomodate the
problem. Sticking with the DTC series controllers and adding a terminating
resistor has fixed the problem in 23 out of 24 cases, however we offer a 30
money back guarrentee if people want to see first.

On a personal note, I am very pleased that the Insider was there in the early
days as it is one of the reasons many good programs were born!

P.S. If you don't have Browser 1.6a, get it! I can't stop using it.
Thanks Peter!
