[comp.sys.amiga] Where's the '88 BADGE KDC stuff?

u-jmolse%sunset.utah.edu@wasatch.UUCP (John M. Olsen) (02/09/89)

Does anyone out there have any idea when the '88 Killer Demo Contest
diskettes and prizes will be sent? It would be nice if it happened
before the '89 contest (assuming there will be one).

I know California hasn't fallen off the edge of the USA because I was
just there over the weekend. That excuse won't work.

At the last FAUG meeting (this last Tuesday), the hold-up was explained. It
seems that the person (sorry, forgot his name) who is making the collections
is having some serious hard disk problems. It seems that every time he has
everything ready to copy to the master distribution floppies, his HD
crashes, and he has to start over... Needless to say, he is no less anxious
to get them out than we are...

Everything has been held up by Go Amigo, specifically its owner Andy
Drexler. He donated the 2 meg ram expansion that I won, and now that
the contest is over, refuses to return any calls about the subject and is
forever "on another line". I'm really upset about the whole thing, since
I won "best custom demo" but have received nothing for my efforts. All of
the other donors sent their prizes months ago. I'm want to get things
moving, but I'm gonna need your help.

1) Boycott Go Amigo and its associated store "Computer Attic". Both are
   owned by Mr. Drexler.

2) Call him at Computer Attic (415)322-0639 and remind him about the contest.
One of us is bound to get through.

The sooner the prize arrives, the sooner Randy can send the disks and we
can all be happy. P.S. I believe there may be another prize missing too,
which was also donated by Andy Drexler.

Thanks in advance.

Vince Lee.

The contest was held October 20, 1988, and the winners were announced
to the net December 11 (52 days later, if you're keeping score). It's
been 63 days since then...

I've seen two excuses and neither holds a lot of water. If the person
who is suppose to be duplicating the demos is having hard drive
problems, get someone else to to it. And I don't see why this Drexler
guy's not giving out his prize is stopping the distribution of the disks...

As soon as someone gets me a set, I'll have them up for anonymous ftp.

I already have John Olsen's Tychoid (winner Best Graphics) -- it's
available on xanth.cs.odu.edu as /amiga/badge1/tychoid.zoo.

It's really ludicrous that they haven't been distributed yet (115 days)!
