[comp.sys.amiga] A500 Replacement Power Supply?

smithey@esosun.UUCP (Brian Smithey) (02/10/89)

I guess I'm a real A500 owner now, my power supply went POP! last night
after 6 months of relatively light use. Any suggestions on what to
replace it with? I called two Amiga dealers in San Diego and replacement
power supplies are $100. I'd rather not do this again in 6 months, so
if anybody has replaced their dead PS with something better I'd like to
hear about it, particularly those who have "upgraded" to something that
can also comfortably drive a hard disk -- might as well plan for the future.

Thanks,

Brian

I'd tell you where to get a "better" A500 power supply, but I don't have
my January 1989 issue of Computer Shopper with me. They have an article about
a California company that sell heavy duty Amiga 500 power supplies for about
the same $100. But of course with the construction shown in the article, I
doubt you'd ever have to replace it again. The power supply shown in the
article had both cords, and two outlets mounted on the back, and only the
power switch on front ( an arrangement that is easier to use than the A500
power brick arrangement).

I hope this helps point you in the right direction.

The Phoenix Power Supply will do you well.
